This poultry farm was mainly concerned with monitoring access to the property, feed bins, controller areas and house temperatures at a glance, all from the office or from the manager’s residence.
The digital recorder is a “Vertex Vault” 16 channel system, currently running 15 cameras, with and LCD monitor that is installed in a lockable closet in the office, with the monitor on the desk.
The office has two cameras installed, both infrared equipped for night time viewing. One camera monitors the driveway, and a smaller version covers the office entry door and logs all visitors and deliveries as well. Camera placement in each of the buildings was accomplished with CAT 5 cabling and camera power supplies in each of the buildings.
Infrared cameras monitor the feed bins and deliveries, while there is also a camera at the controller locations to monitor operation and access, while also viewing a large temperature read out for each house.
On each end building (#1 and #15), there are cameras out front monitoring access drives and house access, and also cameras on the backside covering the driveway to the managing house and driveway access.
The owners secondary goal was to protect themselves with documentation should they be faced with bio terrorism or claims of shoddy practices in the event of salmonella or other potential outbreaks.
